Unemployment climbed a bit in Springfield in July, but it’s still well below where it was one year ago.

The local jobless rate stood at 4.3 percent last month. That’s one-tenth of one-percent higher than June, but 1.2 percent below the rate in July of 2021.

Springfield has added 4,200 jobs over the past year, with the biggest increases coming in education and health services, government, and leisure and hospitality.
