Governor JB Pritzker has picked up the endorsement of a statewide firefighters organization.
The Associated Fire Fighters of Illinois says it’s backing Pritzker because of initiatives like working to consolidate local firefighter pension funds into a single statewide grouping, lowering its overhead costs and leaving more money for benefits. It’s also endorsing Pritzker because of his support of a pro-union Workers Rights Amendment to the Illinois Constitution on the fall ballot.
During an event in Springfield, Pritzker told the firefighters that he was proud to have challenged and defeated former Governor Bruce Rauner… whom Pritzker called a “union buster.” And Pritzker says his current GOP opponent, Darren Bailey, is Rauner’s “anti-union mini-me.”
