U.S. Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth are rejecting Republican criticism of a new law that Democrats say will help get inflation under control.

President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law Tuesday. During a stop at Curry’s Family Pharmacy in Riverton, the two Democratic senators said the bill will help lower health care costs, especially on prescription drugs for seniors. Republicans say inflation is being driven by government spending… and say the new law just adds more of that.

But Durbin and Duckworth say the package will make large corporations pay their fair share in taxes and will ultimately reduce the federal deficit, which they say will reduce inflationary pressures.
