One man is dead following an early morning fire in Chatham.
Fire crews from Chatham, Springfield, and several other departments were called to that home in the 38-hundred block of Mansion Road shortly before 1:30 Friday morning. They found the structure fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters were informed of a man inside the home, but the flames made it impossible for them to enter the structure. The 76-year-old man was later pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported. It took crews nearly three hours to bring that fire under control.
The cause remains under investigation.
