It’s been two months since gas prices hit their all-time high in Springfield, and prices continue to steadily drop locally.

The average price for regular unleaded in Springfield was $3.70 a gallon… down 16 cents in the past week and more than $1.50 a gallon less than it was on June 11th, when prices peaked at $5.27 a gallon on average. Springfield is below both the state average of $4.33 a gallon, and the national average of $3.99 a gallon.

But the local price is still almost 40 cents a gallon higher than it was at this time one year ago.
