Not only is the richest man in Illinois moving out of the state, he’s also apparently turning off the flow of money that he had hoped would unseat Democratic Governor JB Pritzker.

Billionaire Ken Griffin had poured $50 million into the campaign of Republican candidate Richard Irvin ahead of the June primary, but Irvin came in third in the six-way race. Now Chicago Public Radio reports that Griffin will not be providing any financial support to the man who defeated Irvin, GOP nominee Darren Bailey. A spokesperson says Griffin still believes Irvin was the best candidate for governor, and therefore will not be backing Bailey.

Other Republican fundraisers say they’re unsure how Bailey will be able to raise the money needed to be competitive against Pritzker’s campaign bankroll.
