Dozens of demonstrators turned out Saturday in Springfield to protest the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade.

The rally at the Old State Capitol Plaza was organized by several groups, including Resistor Sisterhood and Planned Parenthood Illinois Action.

Although Illinois has taken steps to preserve access to abortion, speakers said the ruling leaves many women around the country without the ability to make their own choices about reproduction or their own health. And they urged the crowd to use the ballot box to make their voices heard.
