Sangamon County has dropped back down to a “medium” level of community transmission for COVID-19, even as the local death toll from the virus continues to rise.
There were four more deaths related to COVID in the past week in Sangamon County, ranging in age from their 70s to their 90s. Three of the four were fully vaccinated and boosted.
The county has seen 395 total deaths from the virus since the start of the pandemic, and has now surpassed 63,000 total COVID cases.
