Governor JB Pritzker has issued a disaster declaration for Lake County in the aftermath of Monday’s deadly mass shooting in Highland Park.

The move allows for easier access to state resources, personnel, and equipment to assist Highland Park and neighboring communities with recovery efforts following the attack on the community’s Fourth of July parade. Pritzker says the state will provide whatever assistance it can to help those communities cope with the fallout from the shooting.

The declaration applies only to Lake County, and will remain in effect for 30 days.
