A major project on Interstate 55 could cause some delays and tie-ups for drivers… as well as for walkers and bikers.
IDOT crews will be working on the I-55 bridge over the Lost Bridge Trail, just south of the South Grand Avenue/Route 29 interchange. Starting Tuesday, the southbound on-ramp to the interstate from South Grand Avenue will be closed. The northbound I-55 off-ramp to South Grand will be closed Wednesday and Thursday.
The work will also mean periodic lane reductions in both directions of I-55, and occasional closures of the Lost Bridge Trail. The work is expected to continue through early November.
