A new children’s play area has opened at Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site.

The hands-on exhibit and demonstration space is in the building that previously housed the Stone Museum gift shop at the back of the historic village. Children will be able to try on 1830s period clothing, pretend to cook over a fireplace, play indoor games from Lincoln’s time, and build with regular or jumbo Lincoln Logs.

The play area is open 10am to 2om Thursdays through Saturdays, and at other times as staffing permits.
