Sangamon County’s death toll from COVID-19 now stands at 380 since the pandemic began in March of 2020.
The latest death was a woman in her 60s who had been vaccinated and boosted. She passed away last week after testing positive for the virus in early April. The county continues to see an uptick in COVID cases, with 447 new infections reported over a four-day period that included the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
Sixteen Sangamon County residents are currently hospitalized with complications from the virus.
