COVID’s just not done with us yet… that’s the warning from Sangamon County Public Health Director Gail O’Neill.

New daily case counts in Sangamon County are back in triple digits in recent days… and that doesn’t include people who only use home tests to confirm that they have COVID. O’Neill says new variants continue to drive case counts up… but the good news is that vaccinations and boosters are helping people avoid serious illness or hospitalization from the virus.

378 county residents have died of COVID-19, but there hasn’t been a local death linked to the virus in nearly a month. Sangamon County stands at just over 62-percent fully vaccinated.
