A Taylorville woman is facing arson charges after reportedly telling police she set fire to her own home.
Fire crews were dispatched to a home on East Adams Street in Taylorville Tuesday. Newschannel 20 reports that at around the same time, police got a call about a disturbance at that home. First responders arrived to black smoke coming from the home, but no one inside. Witnesses told police they had seen the homeowner walking away from the home just before the fire broke out.
Police later located the woman, 35-year-old Brittney Hill, who reportedly told officers that she had just burned her house down. Hill was booked into the Christian County Jail.
