Illinois is losing a major corporate resident.
Multiple press reports say Boeing will move its headquarters from Chicago to the Washington, DC, area, in order to be closer to federal regulators and defense officials with input into the purchase of military aircraft. Boeing moved its HQ to Chicago in 2001 and says it will still have a presence there.
A formal announcement on the move is expected next week.
