Two Men Arrested After Tuesday Standoff In Springfield

Springfield police have arrested two men in connection with the shots fired incident that closed down several city streets Tuesday afternoon.

 

Officers barricaded the area around 12th and South Grand after witnessing multiple shots fired and seeing two suspects run into a residence. The two men eventually surrendered peacefully. Police recovered two handguns which were traced back to a theft in Missouri where more than 60 guns were stolen. 35-year-old Otis Tyson of Springfield was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, and 32-year-old Dearius Brewer of Springfield is facing multiple charges, including possession of a stolen weapon.

 

Both men are being held on $750,000 bond as the investigation continues.
