Illinois Republicans are praising the apparent end of Roe v. Wade… but some are condemning the leak that made the move public before the decision was finalized.

Congressman Rodney Davis contends the leak was an attempt to intimidate Supreme Court justices and possibly sway their opinion before a final ruling. But Davis says he’s pro-life and hopes the final decision will empower states to pass more laws to protect the unborn. GOP candidates for governor Darren Bailey, Gary Rabine, and Jesse Sullivan all issued statements supporting a repeal of Roe. Bailey and Sullivan said they will try to repeal state laws that allow for late-term or taxpayer-funded abortions, and will seek to reinstate parental notification laws.

None of the candidates said they would push for an all-out ban on abortion in the state.
