U.S. Senator Dick Durbin will preside over this week’s confirmation hearings for President Biden’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson.
Durbin says he’s hoping for bipartisan support for the nominee, who would become the first Black woman on the High Court if confirmed.
But Durbin accuses Republican Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri of launching an unfair and untrue attack on Jackson. Hawley contends she was soft on child sex offenders, but Durbin says it’s a “last gasp” by Republicans to find some basis to oppose her nomination.
