As winter weather is winding down and temperatures are rising, spring showers are upon us.
The Illinois Emergency Management Agency is partnering with all local emergency management agencies and the National Weather Service to recognize March 14th-18th as Flood Safety Week. During this time Illinoisans are not only reminded about the importance of flood insurance, but also important safety tips such as “Turn Around, Don’t Drown”: not trying to walk, swim, or drive through flood water.
Other tips are important such as having an emergency kit in your car as well as staying away from bridges over fast moving water.
