You may be noticing an extra flag flying over the Illinois State Capitol.
In addition to the U.S. and Illinois state flags, the Statehouse is also flying the flag of Ukraine. Secretary of State Jesse White’s office says the display was requested by Governor JB Pritzker in a show of solidarity with the Ukrainian people as they fight against the Russian invasion. Pritzker is the great-grandson of a Ukrainian refugee.
It’s not known how long the Ukrainian flag will remain flying over the Capitol dome.
