ISP: Charges Not Warranted At Sangamon County Animal Control

An Illinois State Police investigation concludes that there is insufficient evidence to support criminal charges of abuse or neglect in the treatment of animals at Sangamon County Animal Control.

 

Animal rights groups have complained for months about improper care and treatment of animals at the facility, prompting multiple investigations. Sangamon County officials say three state agencies have now “cleared” Animal Control of what they describe as “sensational allegations by social media commenters.” The county is still awaiting a final report from a consultant who was hired to review operations at Animal Control.

 

That report could come out as early as next week.
