Illinois’s U.S. Senators are reacting to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Democrats Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth both condemn the Russian military action, and say it must be met with a swift and determined response from the U.S. and NATO. Durbin says the invasion jeopardizes the established international order, and Duckworth says the human suffering caused by the invasion… and any blood spilled… is on Vladimir Putin’s hands. Both say the full weight of economic sanctions must be brought down on Russia to hold Putin accountable for his actions.
Local Republican congressmen Rodney Davis and Darin LaHood both issued statements condemning Russia and calling for severe sanctions to be imposed.
