Governor JB Pritzker says his proposed moratorium on the state sales tax on groceries will provide some needed relief to families across the state.

Pritzker stopped at the Schnucks store on Sangamon Avenue in Springfield to tout the benefits of the tax relief plan he laid out in his budget speech last week. Pritzker says halting the one-percent grocery tax for a year will save families a total of $360 million. That amounts to an estimated average six-dollars per household per month.

[Pritzker’s appearance in Springfield was briefly interrupted by hecklers, demanding that Pritzker sign an executive order to reinstate a moratorium on utility shutoffs.]
