Therapeutic drugs for the treatment of COVID-19 have arrived in Springfield, but state health officials warn that supplies of the drug are still extremely limited.

The drugs, from Pfizer and Merck, are intended to reduce the severity of symptoms in those with mild to moderate cases of the virus, especially those with underlying health conditions that make them more vulnerable to bad outcomes.

At least three Springfield pharmacies have received some allocation of the drugs, which can only be administered with a doctor’s prescription.
