Sangamon County sets another one-day record for new COVID infections and sees three more deaths as it works through the latest wave of the virus.
There were 762 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported locally Wednesday, just slightly more than the 759 cases in a day reported less than a week earlier.
The latest fatalities are a partially vaccinated man in his 70s, a woman in her 80s who had been vaccinated but had not gotten a booster, and a man in his 90s who had been vaccinated and boosted. The county has now had 36,448 total cases, with 317 deaths.
