A Springfield realtor has been sworn in as the new state representative in the 99th House District.

Sandy Hamilton was chosen by Sangamon County Republicans to replace former Representative Mike Murphy, who stepped down from the General Assembly to become the head of the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce. In addition to her work as a realtor, Hamilton was formerly the head volleyball coach at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School.

She was sworn in shortly after her selection Thursday night.
