Assistance from the state will allow the Sangamon County Department of Public Health to open up more COVID vaccination appointments.
Public health director Gail O’Neill says additional personnel from the state will soon let the county expand from morning appointments to offering the shots all day Mondays through Fridays at the drive-thru facility at the public health department on South Grand.
But despite the recent COVID surge in Sangamon County, O’Neill says there is little indication that people who so far have resisted getting the vaccination are changing their minds. She says few scheduled appointments are for first doses of the vaccine.
