Springfield police have made an arrest in a homicide that was discovered last month.

Police found the body of 30-year-old Derek Banker Barnett of Virden inside a car in an alley in the 19-hundred block of Cornell Avenue on November 10th. The body was found near a residence where police had gone to apprehend two people wanted in connection with several crimes in Quincy.

But police say those wanted fugitives were not connected to the homicide… and have now arrested 32-year-old LaMarcus Hunter on charges of murder, armed robbery, possession of a stolen vehicle and other offenses in connection with Burnett’s death.
