Sangamon County is now over 28,000 total COVID cases since the start of the pandemic… and two more county residents have died of complications from the virus.

There were 322 new confirmed local cases over the three-day period from Saturday to Monday… and the county’s rolling seven-day average of new infections has soared in recent days, jumping from an average of 25 cases per day in early November to 125 per day now.

The latest fatalities were a man and a woman, both in their 60s. Neither of them had been vaccinated against COVID. That brings the county death toll during the pandemic to 295.
