Another Springfield man is facing charges in connection with the January 6th breach at the U.S. Capitol.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports 66-year-old Roy Nelson Franklin is facing charges that include entering a restricted building without authority, violent entry, and disorderly conduct. Franklin and another Springfield man, Thomas Adams, Jr., were in the Capitol during the riots tied to efforts to delay the certification of President Biden’s Electoral College victory. Adams was arrested in April. Both men were quoted in an article on the Insider website about why they took part in the incursion at the Capitol.

The federal criminal complaint quotes Franklin as acknowledging he was there and saying he was proud to take a stand against what he views as a “stolen” election. Franklin tells the Sun-Times he plans to fight the charges in court.
