The Springfield Police crackdown on pop-up parties has led to more firearms arrests.

While responding to a large gathering that materialized just after midnight Sunday morning in the 27-hundred block of South Sixth Street, officers attempted to pull over a vehicle with several people inside. The car sped off but hit a fence, and the people inside tried to get away on foot.

Officers apprehended three suspects and recovered three guns, one of which had been reported stolen in Lincoln. 19-year-old Nasaan Booker, 19-year-old Coree Carlton, and 18-year-old William Sanchez, all of Peoria, are being held on weapons charges, as well as resisting or obstructing a peace officer.
