Austin Randolph will ring in the new year as the newly elected President of the Springfield Branch’s National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

Randolph said he is a strong believer in pouring back into the community that once helped him.

Randolph retired with 30 years of experience from the Illinois Department of Corrections. His time there allowed him to make history.

He has taken part in many organizations, like the Jewish Federation, to create genuine relationships with individuals from different backgrounds.

Randolph will be taking on this position as Springfield is fighting for racial equality and justice for the death of Sonya Massey.
