Springfield Police are dispelling rumors that Venezuelan gangs are a threat to the community.
In a statement released Friday, the department said there is no evidence of gang-related activity involving Venezuelan migrants.
Residents are advised to seek information directly from the Springfield Police Department and not through social media.
The statement went on to say that a recent retail theft and two ATM thefts are unrelated but didn’t say how they related to the Venezuelan gang claims.
