Small Business Saturday Holiday Market to put spotlight on local Illinois businesses

Illinois Saturday Holiday Market

Illinois Local has announced that it will host its annual Small Business Saturday Holiday Market on Saturday November 30, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the Exposition Building at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

The Holiday Market will host 70+ independent businesses from throughout the state. In addition to the 70+ vendors, the fourth annual Illinois Local Holiday Market will also have Santa, Bluey & Bingo, performances from Springfield Youth Performance Group, Dayna’s Dance Revolution, Illinois Symphony Youth Orchestra, Land of Lincoln Chorus, a golf simulator, photo booth, and a kids’ corner with holiday arts and crafts.

In 2023, the Holiday Market attracted 2,500 shoppers.

“We hope everyone can join us for the market. It is fast becoming a holiday tradition for local families and visitors from out of state,” said Illinois Local co-founder Gemma Long. “The day-long event is a great way to celebrate small businesses, get a start with holiday shopping, support local causes, and enjoy entertainment and delicious food and drinks.”

This year, the Holiday Market will have a Nutcracker scavenger hunt with a chance to win tickets to the Saturday, December 6:00 PM performance of Springfield Youth Performance Group’s The Nutcracker at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School.

“Guests can also bring nonperishable snacks and children’s gloves to donate to Compass for Kids by placing these under the Illinois Local Holiday Market Tree of Joy at the Compass for Kids booth, sponsored by AlignLife of Springfield Chiropractic,” said Illinois Local co-founder, Chris Long.

Entry to the market is $5.12 and under free. Parking is free. Guests can enter the fairgrounds at gate 12, SMTD bus routes 1 and 2.

The Illinois Small Business Development Center for Central Illinois supports the holiday market. The Illinois Local Holiday Market is an official American Express Shop Small 2024 Neighborhood Champion.

Vendors aged 13 to 18 participate for free. “It is important young entrepreneurs have an opportunity to showcase their businesses. We cannot wait to welcome them to the Illinois Local Holiday Market again this year,” said Gemma.

In addition, the market will also boast clothes, accessories, homeware, art, a hat-burning station, carolers, a Landmark Ford vehicle, hot food, smoothies, coffee, wine, cocktails, popcorn, candy, baked goods, and more.
