Life is so fragile. As you live your life, there are so many things that can potentially knock you off course – if you have one to begin with – and in a lot of these instances, we have ZERO control over. Loss, health problems, accidents, financial woes; many things can contribute to making life tough.
That’s why I really love routine. It’s funny that my morning show happens to be called “The Morning Routine,” because that word – “Routine” – is ,in fact, very important to me. Especially with someone like me – who has anxiety – routine can be a major organizational tool to lean on inn order to create stability in our lives.
However, too much routine can also be a bad thing. If someone finds a good routine and becomes afraid to break it, it can become a crutch that prevents growth, and that person might need to re-evaluate what they’re doing to ensure you they are doing everything for the right reasons.
Also, sometimes, a routine can lead to a funk. Doing the same thing day after day can be tiring on anyone – even if you love what you’re doing. This is why it’s important to be self-aware about how you’re feeling; it’s important to be honest with yourself. We are very good at justifying certain things to ourselves that may not always be the best thing for us; our brain has incredible power.
When my routine needs to be shaken up and I‘m feeling in a rut, I’ll give myself something to look forward to. It can be anything from a weekend trip to taking a mental health day and doing something you like to do that isn’t part of your everyday activities.
For me, this acts as a bit of a restart and usually allows me to take a look at things from a better perspective. So – if you feel like your routine might need a shakeup, it’s time to get something on that calendar; remember, nothing will change, unless something changes.
Enjoy this weeks happy fun time video!
