Pongo, has came a LONG way, from being surrendered at Sangamon County Animal Control & Adoption Center, to decompressing at a foster home. We have learned he loves to cuddle, chew on bones, and play w the resident dogs and tries to play w the cats! (He mostly ignores the cats) he hasn’t been around small children and due to his size and taking time to come out of his shell, we recommend older kids.
Pongo will require another dog in the home to help him continue to come out of his shell, and it helps him settle down in the kennel w another dog close by. A fenced in yard is highly preferred.
We believe he was simply not socialized as a pup. & when he grew to be a 50lb dog, they no longer wanted or had the time for him (and his sister).
*Some will say we need to keep Pongo and Perdy together, however we did see how they would do apart, and they were fine as long as there was another dog. The reality is, adopting 2 adult dogs, that are 50lbs each, and keeping together is very challenging. We would be open to the right home, however we would love that they each found their forever.*
