If you learned to enjoy alcohol-to-go from restaurants during the pandemic, you may still be able to get carryout cocktails for a while longer; the Illinois General Assembly has passed legislation to extend the practice for five more years.

It was initially put in place to help restaurants make up for lost dine-in revenue when pandemic restrictions were in place, but supporters say people still want the convenience – and restaurants still want the sales.

If Governor JB Pritzker does not sign the bill, cocktails-to-go would no longer be allowed as of June 2024.
