Pantera will officially take the stage for the first time in nearly 22 years this week in Mexico and with a recent announcement that will see the legendary band join Metallica on a stadium tour in 2023/2024, their return has gained even more momentum. This incarnation of the Cowboys from Hell will see Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde and Antrhax drummer Charlie Benate will take the roles of the dearly departed Abbot brothers, Dimebag Darrell and Vinnie Paul. It was widely reproted amidst some online backlash to the band coming back to the live stage, that the estate of Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell have signed off on the tour being billed as ‘Pantera’.

Now the estate of Vinne Paul has taken to social media to speak on this topic with clarification:

There can never be a PANTERA reunion without Vinnie and Dime. However, there is no better way to celebrate and honor Vinnie and Dime’s legacy, than to bring the music of PANTERA directly to the fans. We are honored that Charlie and Zakk, their very close friends and musical brothers, will share the stage with Philip and Rex, to unleash the power of PANTERA live around the world.

It’s a refreshing take on this not being a full-on reunion, but certainly a revival for fans who have missed the metal titans and those that have never been able to see them.
