Current and former Macoupin County prosecutors are objecting to the possibility of clemency for a former Death Row inmate who is asking to be let out of prison.

That hearing for Robert Turner had originally been set for last summer, but was postponed after the victim’s family objected to the lack of notice about the hearing. It will now be held January 10th in Chicago.

Turner was convicted of the 1985 rape and murder of 16-year-old Bridget Drobney. Newschannel 20 reports State’s Attorney Jordan Garrison and former prosecutors Ed Rees and Vince Moreth are joining the family in objecting to the idea of releasing Turner, whose sentence was commuted to natural life in prison after the death penalty was banned in Illinois.
