A favorite of both Cubs and Cardinals fans has died.

Bruce Sutter was an ace reliever for the Cubs in the 1970s, and then signed with the Cardinals, where he threw the final out to clinch the team’s 1982 World Series victory.

With his trademark split-finger fastball, Sutter had 300 career saves and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006. He died Thursday night at the age of 69.
