Sangamon County is now offering the COVID vaccine to children from six months to five years old.
The federal government gave formal approval last week for child-size doses of the vaccine to protect younger children, who up until now had not been eligible to receive the shot. The county received its first supply of Moderna doses for young children Tuesday night and is providing them by appointment only.
The vaccine is provided in two doses, administered one month apart. You can schedule an appointment by phone at 217-535-3102.
