Republican candidate for governor Darren Bailey is once again supporting a challenger against a local incumbent GOP lawmaker in next week’s primary.
Bailey is endorsing Kent Gray over long-time Republican Representative Tim Butler in the 95th Illinois House District. Bailey is also backing challenger Don DeBolt against incumbent state Senator Steve McClure of Springfield.
Bailey says he’s backing Gray because Butler voted in favor of a substantial gas tax increase to pay for a major infrastructure program. Gray says he will oppose tax hikes if he’s elected.
