Two years after their state title hopes were dashed by the start of the coronavirus pandemic, the Sacred Heart-Griffin Cyclones are headed to the IHSA Class 3A championship game.
The Cyclones punched their ticket to the title match with a 50-39 semifinal win over Chicago St. Ignatius Friday morning at the State Farm Center in Champaign-Urbana. They will play for the championship there Saturday evening at 5:30.
The Cyclones will face Metamora, which rallied to beat Chicago Simeon in Friday’s other semifinal game, 50-47.
