The Springfield Sangamon Growth Alliance is predicting some major moves in 2022.

The public-private economic development partnership held its annual meeting Thursday to discuss the past year’s accomplishments and lay out expectations for the year ahead. CEO Ryan McCrady says he anticipates significant progress this year on efforts to redevelop the old Pillsbury Mills site. McCrady says the Alliance will also be working with Sangamon County to conduct a study of broadband access across the county, with an eye toward improving service in areas that currently don’t have reliable broadband.

He says that’s an essential tool for any business to grow and thrive.
