Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler and former Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum have launched a new musical project called Deadland Ritual. They are joined in the group by Billy Idol guitarist Steve Stevens and singer Franky Perez, who nearly replaced the late Scott Weiland in Velvet Revolver after the latter was dismissed by the members of that band.
Perez sang at one point for System Of A Down offshoot Scars On Broadway and has spent the last three years as the vocalist for Apocalyptica, while also singing with Stevens, Kings Of Chaos and Royal Machines.
Deadland Ritual is scheduled to appear at Hellfest in Clisson, France next summer. The group will perform on the main stage on June 22nd, 2019 before such other acts as Kiss, Def Leppard and Whitesnake.
