Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has hinted that either new music or live shows could be on the way from Foxboro Hot Tubs, which is actually a pseudonym that Green Day has recorded and performed under a decade ago.
Posting a screenshot of one of the Hot Tubs’ songs playing on his phone, Armstrong wrote, “Next week Jumping in some rehearsal time with these big lugs.” The post was uploaded to the official Instagram account of Armstrong’s other project, The Longshot. There are no other details available at the moment.
The Hot Tubs’ debut album, Stop Drop And Roll!!!, came out in early 2008. The band made its live “debut” in Oakland on May 15th of that year, kicking off a brief U.S. tour. Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt played in the Hot Tubs under his real name, Michael Pritchard, while drummer Tre Cool also used his real name, Frank Edwin Wright III. Armstrong called himself the Reverend Strychnine Twitch.
Green Day has also played under other names, releasing an album called Money Money 2020 in late 2003 as the Network.
