In a recent interview, Taylor Hawkins — drummer of the Foo Fighters said that bands like the Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam as well as other big rock acts are still the most relevant performers in a live setting.
“I think that the exchange between an audience and people on a stage with guitars and drums without a net, that hasn’t really gone away per say. I think rock bands like us, Pearl Jam, the Rolling Stones, Roger Waters, Paul McCartney, those are probably still the biggest shows. I still think that it translates better with instruments, I just do, than one dude walking around with a microphone.”
Hawkins also recently sat down with former Oasis frontman Ian Gallagher for an interview with Magnet Magazine — where the two musicians talked about music genres and the labels that get put onto bands (IE: Grunge or BritPop).
