Guillermo del Toro is set to direct a Pinocchio remake for Netflix. The Oscar-winning director is going to lead a “stop motion musical” version of the story set in 1930s Italy. Del Toro is also going to be a writer and producer for the upcoming movie.
The network that brought you Sharknado, SyFy, is in talks to secure the rights to former horror shlock franchises Killer Klowns from Outer Space and Critters. It’s unclear what plans the network could have for either property, whether they be sequels or reboots, with virtually any option sounding exciting.
Little Miles has something evil inside. Nicholas McCarthy’s Prodigy has dropped its first creepy teaser, starring Taylor Schilling as Sarah, described by the film as “a mother whose young son Miles’ disturbing behavior signals that an evil, possibly supernatural force has overtaken him. Fearing for her family’s safety, Sarah must grapple with her maternal instinct to love and protect Miles in favor of investigating what – or who – is causing his dark turn. She is forced to look for answers in the past, taking the audience on a wild ride; one where the line between perception and reality remains blurry.” The film lands February 8th, 2019.
The Daily Show’s Trevor Noah is heading back to Netflix next month with a new stand-up special. He announced the special, dubbed Son of Patricia, on Netflix. The show will debut Tuesday, November 20th.
Julia Roberts built her career making some of the most beloved romantic comedies of the modern era (Pretty Woman, Notting Hill, My Best Friend’s Wedding); but she’s done. “Unless we [play] the parents of the people that are rom-com-ing,” Roberts, 50, tells Entertainment Tonight, claiming she’s simply aged out of the role. She goes on: “There came a point in my career where people thought I had turned on romantic comedies, which I love them, I love to be in them, I love to watch them. But sometimes, they just don’t work at a certain point of life experience.”
The Party of Five reboot has four of its five leads. Brandon Larracuente, Emily Tosta, Niko Guardado and Elle Paris Legaspi will play the Buendia siblings on the Freeform show. The fifth sibling, like the original series, will be an infant. The four will take on the roles originally played by Matthew Fox, Neve Campbell, Scott Wolf and Lacey Chabert.
The next Wonder Woman movie is being delayed seven-months. Wonder Woman 1984 was scheduled to open November 1, 2019 but it was pushed back to June 5, 2020. The movie will star Gal Gadot as the super hero and Kristen Wiig as her arch-enemy Cheetah.
LeBron James’ SpringHill Entertainment is in talks to acquire the rights to a new Friday the 13th movie. The project is still in early development – no writer or director is attached. It’s expected to feature the goalie-mask wearing mass murderer Jason Voorhees, who has been the center of the hit franchise since the 1980 original.
