Having more sex protects you from heart attacks and keeps your ticker in top performance!
Researchers tracked 1,165 men between the ages of 40 and 70 for an average of 16 years, and analyzed their health history in order to understand the relationship between sexual activity and cardiovascular health.
The research discovered that the men who had the most sex had the lowest risk of developing cardiovascular disease, and to get into more specifics, those who had sex two to three times per week were 45 percent less likely to have heart problems than those who only got it on once a month.
This study is particularly noteworthy because the researchers took factors like overall health, blood pressure, and whether the men were smokers or not into consideration, and the results still proved that sex alone is a factor powerful enough to reduce the risk of heart disease.
Sex researcher Dr. Justin Lehmiller says the reason why sex is so good for heart health is because it’s a form of exercise– and it’s a powerful stress reliever, which is always a good thing.
