In a new interview with The Guardian, longtime James Bond exec producer Barbara Broccoli decreed that 007 isn’t a woman, and that’s that. “Bond is male. He’s a male character,” she explained. “He was written as a male and I think he’ll probably stay as a male. Let’s just create more female characters and make the story fit those female characters … It was written in the ‘50s, so there’s certain things in [Bond’s] DNA that are probably not gonna change.”
Sony’s Spider-Man adjacent Tom Hardy-toplining Venom has nabbed an estimated $80 million at the box office this weekend, topping Gravity ($55.8 million) as the highest-opening October film ever. Critics gave Venom the thumbs-down, but audiences were more generous, giving it a B+ CinemaScore.

Gina Gershon is joining the cast of Riverdale. Gershon will play Gladys Jones who is Jughead’s mom on the upcoming third season of the CW show. And newcomer Trinity Likin will play Jughead’s sister Jellybean “JB” Jones.

Star Trek producers Alex Kurtzman and Heather Kadin have confirmed to Trek Movie that the new (Jean-Luc) Picard series being developed for CBS All Access is planned as an ongoing series. Fans quickly made assumptions that the show would be a limited series, but Kadin specifically said they are planning for the show to run for multiple seasons.
